Opera-tunities

Junior and senior high school students with their teachers are invited at a minimal charge to attend final dress rehearsals of main stage productions on the Thursday before Opening Night in Salt Lake City's Capitol Theatre with events running from 7-10 p.m.

In October, the season starts with a tale from maritime legend, Wagner's Flying Dutchman (Die Fliegende Holländer). Wagner brings us a captain cursed to roam the seas for eternity with his phantom ship and ghostly crew. Every seven years he sets foot on shore in search of a faithful wife whose constancy can release him from his torment. Will he find salvation in the arms of Senta, or is her love beyond his spectral grasp? Experience a work of dark, wild, and somber beauty that strives for notes of light and grace. Click here for more information on the story and performers.
