Performances in schools are funded primarily through a grant from the Utah State Legislature. Utah Symphony & Opera is a member of Professional Outreach Programs in the Schools (POPS) and works with other arts and science organizations to bring enrichment experiences to Utah students.

Since 2001, the Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration of Salt Lake City has partnered with Utah Opera to sponsor an annual spring Children's Opera Showcase, which generally takes place in the Rose Wagner Center for the Performaing Arts in downtown Salt Lake City. Three student operas created by individual classes during the year are featured. In 2005, KCIC increased its sponsorship in order to support our annual summer "Music! Words! Opera!" teacher workshop that guides teachers through a process of creating original musical theatre projects with their students.

In the fall of 2004, Utah Symphony & Opera began a partnership with Ken Garff Auto in it's Keys to Success program. US & O provides vouchers for symphony concerts and opera performances for Ken Garff to distribute to High School Students who have shown Academic accomplishment.
